The service is fantastic; everyone is always generous and kind when I visit for take-out. It is a bit old school; the ticket is calculated with a pencil, but they may be eager to keep costs down. I'm fine if there are mistakes; I don't mind paying them extra, and I always leave a tip regardless. I always return when I'm in town because the food is spectacular. I always recommend this place to others. If you haven't been or are on the fence, go for it; you won't regret it. The bad news is that you might have little time to enjoy it. As of August 2024, the restaurant is only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, (in my opinion) a sign of the business's winding down process. Last I checked, folk are hungry at all times of the day and evening, plus every day of the week. Several times, I called on 'off' days and instead spent my money at other lesser restaurants open for business. (Babes isn't great, but they are OPEN!) Note for management: No, it's not a staffing problem or 'business is slow' or 'the economy is tough'; it's a management problem. You can find staff, and business won't pick up immediately, but once customers (the regulars) realize the doors are open for business - they will come! Keep delivering the same excellent food and fantastic, friendly service, and your regular customer base will continue to rely on you every day of the week. Oh, and Management, raising your prices a little is okay. You will have to do it eventually (it's easier than closing your doors); it doesn't have to be a colossal hike; do it slowly in small amounts, and maybe you can hire staff for business seven days a week - when customers are hungry! Let's keep this diversity in Utica!

Really great food! Before we moved to Virginia about 20 years ago, we loved the Phoenician. After our first visit back since we came back home in 2018 - we still do. Our lunch was fantastic and reasonably priced. I had the souvlaki skewer and my wife had the chicken - both with rice. Came with a delicious (and simple) salad as well as sides. I had the feta and olives and my wife had the hummus. We shared both and absolutely loved it!! It's a great place, although it's dated for decor, but the food and service more than make up for it.

Yummy! Good sized portion and quality Greek/middle eastern food. I like them better than Symeons. I ordered the shawarma chicken bowl with half salad and half rice for takeout and no complaints here. There was enough left over for a small lunch or snack the next day...would order take out again! The walnut baklava was delicious! Friendly phone and in person service and easy parking.

Found this local joint with scrumptious, reasonably priced Mediterranean food thanks to Yelp while traveling through the area. We were greeted warmly and immediately served pita and labneh to wet our whistle. The tangy labneh, which I probably wouldn't have ordered, was surprisingly great! We ordered the kafta kabob platter, which was served with a nice starter salad, plenty of rice pilaf, and two long skewers of tender lamb/beef kafta that were clearly formed by a master ($16). The Mediterranean bowl ($15), recommended by our server, was a very generous portion of hummus, tabouli, rice pilaf, and chicken shawarma. This platter could have been for 2 people, and I was left with a satisfying lunch of leftovers the next day. The included tahini and tzatziki-like yogurt sauce went great with the cumin-y chicken. interior is a bit dated, and somewhere between pizza parlor and white tablecloth fine dining, but the friendly ownership/service, tasty food, large portions and reasonable prices gave us plenty of reason to return the next time we are in the area. Enjoy it, locals!

A roomy restaurant with lots of seating, we found the staff to be quite attentive. For starters, we got the cheese and olives, as well as the yogurt with mint. That yogurt was good with everything! Grilled meat is hard to do wrong, and the shawarma was excellent! My companion's kebabs could have gone with more seasoning. A minor complaint in the midst and a religious meal. The side salads were also quite enjoyable. We wished we'd had room for dessert, but, alas. The leftovers were just as tasty, though!
